Getting Mynx'd
Most diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures (procedures used to either diagnose or treat diseased vessels) involve making a small incision in the femoral artery at the groin. Once the cardiovascular procedure is complete, the physician needs to close the small incision in the artery (puncture site) to prevent bleeding.
How the Mynx Works
When deployed, the Mynx sealant is gently placed over the puncture site, on the surface of the femoral artery. It immediately swells to 3-4 times its size, rapidly absorbing blood and fluids around the puncture site, sealing the hole. The sealant stops the bleeding and allows the femoral artery to heal. Within 30 days, the sealant is naturally absorbed into the body, leaving nothing behind.
Designed for Patient Comfort
The Mynx Vascular Closure Device is designed to provide the patient with a comfortable closure experience. The unique Mynx sealant coupled with a gentle deployment system that avoids tugging and cinching of the artery, help minimize pain and offer the patient a more comfortable closure experience.
After the Procedure
After the Mynx procedure, patients generally experience shorter periods of bed rest as compared to manual compression and typically can leave the hospital more quickly. Modified activity is recommended for 3-5 days, including no heavy lifting, no pushing and no vigorous activity.
