Gregory D. Casciaro

President & CEO


Gregory D. Casciaro has over 28 years of medical device experience, 23 of those years in the cardiovascular space and leadership positions in both public and private companies. Prior to joining AccessClosure, he was the President and CEO of XTENT Inc, (XTNT), a revolutionary drug-eluting stent platform. Prior to XTENT, Greg was the President and CEO of Orquest Inc., a private company manufacturing and selling bio-therapeutic products to the orthopedic market. Orquest was acquired by DePuy Acromed, a division of Johnson and Johnson. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of General Surgical Innovations (GSII) which was acquired by US Surgical, a division of Tyco (TYC).  Greg has held several senior level positions with Devices for Vascular Intervention, a division of Guidant Corporation (GDT), and North American Instrument Corporation. In addition to his operating roles, Greg is on the Board of Directors for Trireme Medical Inc, and a former Director at Kerberos, acquired by FoxHollow Technologies, and a former Director with AngioDynamics (ANGO). Greg graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI with a B.A. in Business Administration.




John J. Buckley

Chief Financial Officer


Prior to joining AccessClosure, John J. Buckley was CFO at Acologix, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on osteo-renal diseases, where he was responsible for all finance and accounting functions, corporate planning, tax, treasury operation, corporate development and risk management. Prior to Acologix, John was a Partner with JWB Partners, CFO of The Dr. Spock Company and was with Ernst & Young LLP most recently as a Partner and as the Director of the Pacific Northwest Life Science Practice. John received his B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin­­-Whitewater and is a Certified Public Accountant.




Susan Aloyan

Executive Vice President, Regulatory, Clinical and Quality Affairs


Susan Aloyan brings over 20 years of experience in domestic and international regulatory affairs to the AccessClosure executive team. Susan was previously the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Conceptus and helped bring numerous first in-category devices to market. Prior to joining Conceptus, Susan served as Corporate Director, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Clinical Affairs with Gynecare/J&J. She was responsible for approval of the Essure permanent birth control device, as well as Gynecare’s ThermaChoice product. Susan also has been responsible for regulatory submissions at CardioGenesis Corporation and Syntex Corporation. Susan has a B.S. in Management from Golden Gate University and a M.A. in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix.




Ariel Sutton

Vice President, Marketing


Ariel Sutton joined AccessClosure in February 2008 as the Director of Market Development and brings over 10 years of marketing experience in the tech and medical device industries. During her tenure at AccessClosure, Ariel led the launch of the 5F Mynx Vascular Closure device and the Mynx Cadence. Prior to joining AccessClosure, Ariel was the Director of Marketing at FoxHollow Technologies where she led both market development and product marketing. Prior to FoxHollow, she held engineering and marketing roles with Texas Instruments and LifeScan, a division of Johnson & Johnson. Ariel earned a Sc.B. in materials engineering from Brown University and a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.




Brian Armijo

Vice President, Operations


Prior to joining AccessClosure, Brian Armijo was the Vice President of Operations for Boston Scientific, Vascular Protection. There he was brought in at the early stages of the BSC acquisition of Embolic Protection, Inc. (EPI) where he successfully built and led the operations organization. Brian's previous roles in medical startups include: Director of Operations at Quanam Medical (through BSC acquisition), Director of Manufacturing at Somnus Medical, and finally Manager of Manufacturing at Arthrocare Corporation. Brian learned much of his craft through various technical leadership roles in the Manufacturing Management Program (MMP) at General Electric. He holds a dual degree from Brown University - a B.S. in electrical engineering-control systems and a B.A. in comparative literature, Spanish.




Andy Uchida

Vice President, Research and Development


Andy Uchida brings over 10 years of experience in medical device operations and research and development roles. Most recently, Andy was a Senior Director of Research and Development at FoxHollow Technologies where he and his team were responsible for the launch of several product line enhancements. Prior to joining FoxHollow, Andy was a Senior Manager of Research and Development at ORATEC Interventions in the spine products group. Prior to his medical device experience, Andy held systems engineering and research and development positions in the semiconductor and electronics industries. Andy holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MBA from University of California at Berkeley.
